Swimming Lesson

Chely had her first swimming lesson on Tuesday.  All morning she couldn't wait to get going.
When we got to the pool, she got a little nervous

but was still pretty excited overall.

In the water!

The instructors do a great job of making the class fun and giving children individual attention.

Here they are swimming in a "train":

A pensive moment.

"Mom, I put my head underwater!"

She liked it!

Birthday Party!

Getting ready

Kayalá had been excited for days about her upcoming party. She wanted a bear piñata and was looking forward to friends, cake, and candles. (Interestingly, she didn't mention gifts.)

When we were about ready, Kayalá climbed on the couch to look out the window. She started calling down the street, "Friends, come!"
Pretty soon the guests (five families) showed up.

Lunch!

Hello, world!

One of Kayala's classic poses, ever since she was a baby on my back: arms outstretched, one hand up and the other down ... wonder and joy.
